Capturing the colour, movement and ever-changing beauty of the British coastline.
My seascape paintings are inspired by my love of the British coastline, its dramatic landscapes, shifting light and wonderful sense of freedom. I’m drawn to the vibrant colours, sweeping skies and the constant movement of the sea, capturing not just how a place looks, but how it feels to be there.
I begin my paintings outdoors, working directly in the landscape, surrounded by the sights, sounds and changing atmosphere of the coast. Painting on location allows me to respond instinctively to the colours, light and energy of a place, before returning to my studio to develop each piece further.
Colour is at the heart of my work. I love exploring unexpected combinations of luminous blues, turquoise, soft pinks and lilacs, using expressive brushstrokes, layers of paint and playful marks to bring the landscape to life. I am particularly fascinated by the contrast between vast, open skies and the intricate textures of rugged cliffs, wild grasses and coastal paths.
My paintings sit somewhere between observation and imagination. Although rooted in real places and personal experiences, I enjoy the freedom to interpret what I see, allowing colour, texture and movement to take on a life of their own.
For me, painting the coast is about capturing those fleeting moments that stay with us — the brilliance of the light, the feeling of the sea breeze and the joy of discovering a beautiful view.
Through my work, I hope to share that connection with the landscape, creating paintings that invite you to pause, explore and discover something new each time you look at them.
