A Blog About Flower Matters: Tradition of Giving
Share

Whizzing past the flower shop in Seville in the morning rain shower. Making our way to our next sightseeing ticketed time slot, reminded me how much a vibrant splash of colour enhances life and that the meaning behind this colourful gesture can bring a sense of connection and gratitude to the day.
The tradition of flower giving goes back to Ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece through ceremony or religion, and is even thought to have been used to seek the attention of a potential partner as a sign of attraction back then too.
The Victorians also wrote books on Floriography in these they translated secret meanings behind their bunches.
These days we don't need to be overly romantic, earnestly attention seeking or even need to include utterances of unexpressed emotion via a floral interpretation. By giving flowers for a celebration, kindly to a friend, to a family member or partner, we can simply enjoy this small selfless whim of heartfelt generosity and let a bunch of blooms bring joy to our world!
