Pink to me is life and passion

Colourful expressive painting of Yorkshire peat bog with bold brushstrokes, paint splatter, and sweeping lines on canvas

'Over the Peat bog'

This week I have been preparing for

Art in the Pen Skipton, 16th & 17th August, Skipton Auction Mart

Since Spring I have begun the process of re-emerging as an artist with aim of gaining commissions and showcasing my larger pieces at bigger events.  I have already met some of you lovely people on the way who have bought some of my smaller pieces of art work and spent time chatting at my stand.

Developing my work and style takes time and is an enjoyably slower process, a relationship between artist and canvas with meaning and interpretation that is for that personal moment and experience.  Fashions change rapidly, but the timelessness of art is classically sacred and I am finding many people who appreciate this.

Why lines, why pink?

Pink to me means life and passion.

Passion for the freely flowing of the paint on canvas.  Life here in this painting, is like the enjoyable movement felt in interpretive dance the bond between body, soul and creativity.

I use the lines to invite the viewer to look further into my work and experience the painting from other perspectives.  Explore the landscape, the brushwork and look further into my painting.

As many of you know some artist work by crowdfunding sites as business start ups do, in order to survive, develop their practice and continue to raise their profile. Of course, all types of legitimate support is considered and appreciated. As most successful career artists do, I will apply for grants and funding that are relevant to me when I see them.  (They are competitive, scarce and slim at the moment with many more opportunities available for EU members).

For now, I am taking the conventional route of aiming to sell my art online and at events.  Buying through me and my website means that it goes straight back into my practice and living. My work will be available to buy in other places too in order to engage a wider audience and you can buy form there too if you prefer.  A percentage will go the the gallery or online site.  (More on this soon)

My commission book is now open, I look forward to your visit.  Stand numbers have been allocated and you can come and see my work and chat with me about it on stand 24.

See you soon!

Rebecca
